Our core product offers Pacify users on-demand unlimited, video-enabled and phone connections to experts at the touch of a button – no appointments required!  The Doula Program expands on Pacify's virtual doula and lactation networks to include an in-person maternity care solution.

Doulas are perinatal advocates who empower pregnant people and families. They have a powerful and proven way to assist pregnant people by answering questions and providing support during pregnancy, labor and birth. Pacify doulas are trained, certified and experienced professionals who provide virtual and in-person doula care. They offer support free of judgment about parents' personal choices regarding their childbirth and postpartum experiences. This role is a an Independent Contractor role. This role requires being located in the State of Maryland and may require some in-person work.

All Pacify Doulas are required to function within the Pacify Doula Scope of Care:

• Provide physical, emotional and informational support to pregnant and birthing people, birth partners and families during pregnancy, labor and birth
• Commit to ongoing continuing education to maintain your doula certification
• Provide evidence-based information and resources
• Empower parents to make informed decisions, facilitate communication with healthcare providers and encourage shared decision making
• Encourage self-efficacy 
• Provide advocacy, but do not speak for pregnant and birthing people
• Provide support, but do not take agency away from pregnant and birthing people
• Provide recommendations, but do not give medical advice
• Refer all callers back to local healthcare providers for all medical questions and concerns
• Follow Pacify's Policies and Procedures, including the Code of Conduct.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Provide virtual prenatal and postpartum visits and provide labor support (where available).
• Assist clients in creating a birth plan or wish list.
• Offer comfort measures, pain management techniques and relaxation strategies during labor. Advocate for the client's needs and preferences while understanding your scope of care.
• Provide evidence-based education to parents on pregnancy, labor and birth, newborn care, breastfeeding and the postpartum period.
• Create detailed and accurate records, according to Pacify's policies and procedures, of client interactions by completing charts after each visit. 
• Stay current with the latest research in the field of childbirth and postpartum support.
• Respond to all emails sent from the Clinical Team, when requested.
• Follow all Pacify Doula Policy and Procedures, including the Code of Conduct, on all Pacify calls/visits.
• Complete yearly requirements training for HIPAA, Fraud, Waste and Abuse, Security Awareness, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
• Attend required quarterly meetings as scheduled.

Necessary Job Requirements:

• MUST be a certified Birth or full-spectrum doula
• Certification must be active throughout employment at Pacify
• A big heart and an open mind 
• Empathy and a non-judgmental perspective are essential 
• Effective communication with clients and team members
• Tech requirement: Must have a laptop or tablet/iPad in addition to a mobile phone
  • Must have an iPhone 8 or newer model if there is availability to participate in the virtual doula network
• Must be a US citizen
