About The Role:

Blue Hill at Stone Barns is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Events to lead our Events Department. Together with our nonprofit partner, Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture, we are dedicated to curating exceptional, mission-driven experiences for corporate functions, weddings, and private gatherings both on-site and at off-site venues.

The Director of Events will oversee all aspects of event planning and execution, ensuring seamless coordination between clients, internal teams, and vendors. You will be responsible for managing budgets, optimizing workflows, and elevating the overall event experience. Additionally, you will lead and mentor the Events team, including the Events Managers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.

At Blue Hill, we believe the best hospitality professionals continuously deepen their knowledge of food systems, cuisine, and service. As such, you will have the opportunity to participate in weekly education with guest speakers, classes, and training, and be eligible for a stipend for external education opportunities.

  • Experienced: Minimum 5 years of experience in event management, hospitality operations, marketing, or related fields. Prior leadership experience is required.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee the Events Department, managing all aspects of event execution from concept to completion.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance event programming and guest experience.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for high-profile clients, ensuring their expectations are exceeded.
  • Manage and mentor the Events team, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
  • Oversee event logistics, including venue setup, vendor coordination, and staff scheduling.
  • Establish and manage budgets, ensuring financial targets are met.
  • Evaluate event success, implement improvements, and stay updated on industry trends.
  • Collaborate closely with the culinary, service, and operations teams to maintain Blue Hill’s exceptional hospitality standards.
  • Represent Blue Hill at industry events and networking opportunities.
The Details:
  • Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience, between $130k and $170k
  • Benefits: Access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401K, and Paid Time Off.
  • Location & Hours: Full-time, in-person position at Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Pocantico Hills, NY (~1 hr drive from NYC). Must be available for evenings and weekends as needed.
