AHRC New York City has operated sleepaway summer camps for over 50 years, providing summer camp experiences to over 1,000 individuals and much-needed respite to their families. We take pride in our two summer camps and are successfully accredited by the American Camp Association , (ACA)

Job Description



Are you a recent graduate nurse who is passionate about working with individuals with special needs? Our Summer Camp Health Center is looking for compassionate and dedicated Graduate Nurses to support the health and wellbeing of our campers in a meaningful and rewarding work environment. Work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN) and gain invaluable experience while making a lasting impact on the lives of others!

AHRC New York City offers a variety of Nursing Employment Opportunities at our two UPSTATE NEW YORK summer camps, Camp Anne and The Lodge. Pay Rate: $15 per hour until license is obtained and $35-$40 per hour once license is obtained ....plus room and board

Your Role:

As a Graduate Nurse, you will support the health center team in delivering high-quality care to campers with special needs. Under the supervision of an RN, your responsibilities will include:

- Provide First Aid & Emergency Care : Respond to and assess health concerns, injuries, and medical emergencies for campers with special needs.

- Administer Medications & Treatments : Safely administer prescribed medications and follow treatment plans for campers with chronic health conditions.

- Monitor Health Conditions : Help manage and track medical conditions such as asthma, seizures, allergies, and other individual care needs.

- Assist with Health Documentation : Record accurate details of treatments, medications, and medical incidents while ensuring confidentiality.

- Collaborate with Health & Camp Staff : Work closely with camp counselors and other health staff to ensure all campers’ needs are met and that a safe, inclusive environment is maintained

- Support Emotional Wellbeing : Help campers feel comfortable and supported, recognizing the importance of both physical and emotional health in a special needs camp environment.

Qualifications



What You Bring :

- Active nursing license (or in process of obtaining, if applicable).

- Genuine passion for working with individuals with special needs in an outdoor, community-based setting.

- Strong communication skills, patience, and empathy.

- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

- Previous experience with special needs populations is a plus, but not required.

- A caring, compassionate attitude, and a strong desire to make a difference.

Camp Schedule:

Camp runs for approximately 10 weeks and is broken into sessions according to age. The first three sessions cater to our adult population, (21-65 years old ), and the last two sessions cater to our teenagers, (13-21 years old ) and children, (5-12 years old ) population.
