Title: Grounds and Maintenance Worker

Position Purpose:

*Internal Applicants Only May Apply*

Maintaining the grounds of all College owned properties.

This position may be considered “Essential Personnel” in the event that: 

An emergency occurs on the Bates campus or in the vicinity that would impact Bates, 

Inclement weather forces the closing of campus, 

Or other emergency events deemed appropriate.

Job Duties:

Operate all grounds maintenance related equipment. 

Perform all grounds maintenance related tasks. 

Perform all tasks in accordance with recognized National and College safety policies and procedures. 

Complete all assigned work orders in a timely manner 

Continually strive for work performance and shop procedure efficiencies. 

Perform routine emergency response “on call” duty when necessary. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

High school diploma or equivalent.

Must have valid Maine driver’s license. 

Experience

2 years of experience.

Skills and Knowledge

Basic math and computer skills. 

Ability to logically trouble-shoot equipment problems. 

Ability to follow oral and written instructions in the conduct of the job. 

Establish and maintain working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and outside contacts. 

Ability and willingness to work weekends, evenings, on-call and other non-traditional schedules.
