We're seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Translator to play a crucial role in a proposed initiative focused on providing comprehensive care to individuals awaiting reunification or repatriation. This vital role will directly impact the well-being of those we serve, ensuring clear communication and access to essential medical services.
You'll be part of a team committed to providing comprehensive care, from initial screenings and exams to ongoing support for routine, urgent, and emergency medical needs. Your expertise will bridge language barriers, ensuring individuals understand their treatment options and receive the support they need.
What You'll Do:
Bridge Communication Gaps: Accurately translate medical information between healthcare providers and patients, ensuring clear understanding and fostering trust.
Document Translation: Translate vital written materials, including medical records, legal documents, and other important paperwork.
Real-Time Interpretation: Provide accurate and efficient interpretation during medical appointments, meetings, and other interactions.
Ensure Accuracy and Clarity: Review and edit translated materials to maintain the highest standards of accuracy and clarity.
Maintain Confidentiality: Uphold strict confidentiality and adhere to privacy regulations, including HIPAA, when handling sensitive information.
Support Community Outreach: Assist with documentation review and translation for social work and community outreach programs.
Provide ASL Interpretation (if applicable): Offer interpretation services in American Sign Language for individuals with hearing impairments.
Stay Informed: Conduct ongoing research to stay up-to-date on medical terminology and language trends.
Adapt and Assist: Be prepared to undertake additional duties as needed to support the team and the individuals we serve.
What We're Looking For:
Experienced Medical Translator: Proven experience in medical translation or a related field.
Language Proficiency: Fluency in Spanish (multiple dialects preferred) and excellent verbal and written communication skills in all required languages.
Linguistic Expertise: Strong knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, and cultural nuances in both source and target languages.
Interpretation Skills: Ability to interpret accurately and efficiently in diverse settings.
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with translation software and tools (preferred).
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Attention to Detail: Commitment to producing high-quality, accurate translations.
Educational Background: High School Diploma required.
Certification: Medical translator certification preferred.
Life Support: Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Citizenship/Residency: Must be a US citizen or possess a permanent resident card.
Clearance: Current MRPT clearance preferred.
