Ventek Solutions, headquartered near Charleston, South Carolina, is a newly established entity following its acquisition by Black Diamond Capital Management (BDCM) from Sonoco Corporation. Ventek operates across 8 manufacturing facilities located in the US and Mexico. Our Mission is to be the premier foam molder and integrated solutions provider in North America, serving a wide range of markets with molded foam components and protective packaging, including returnable and integrated material solutions.

Ventek Solutions is seeking an Engineer for their Packaging/Dunnage Team. The position will report to the Engineering Manager that leads the group and work daily with other cross-functional team members. The team is centralized at Ventek's US Tech Center in Owosso, MI.

RESPONSBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

•  Support engineering activity related to design, development, manufacturing and implementation of both customer and Ventek designed solutions.
• Provide support to all areas (sales, mfg. data management, costing) throughout the entire Product Commercialization process.
• Work collaboratively with engineers from suppliers, customers and within Ventek to generate acceptable design solutions and/or Design for Manufacturing improvements.
• Train and teach junior engineers relative design techniques and manufacturing processes used in our industry.
• Complete and submit all applicable design release documentation to support new product launches or current product changes.
• Schedule and lead coordination meetings with internal teams (manufacturing, sales, quality etc.) to ensure your design concepts are acceptable to all parties.

Requirements:

• This position requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Package Engineering or related field, with over 10 years of relevant work experiences that meet job requirements.
• Have the functional and technical knowledge and skills to do the job at a high level of accomplishment (considered the local expert)
• Must have a broad knowledge of how to design expanded foam products, including wall thicknesses, coring, draft angles and other geometry limitations.
• Must have a broad knowledge of how to manufacture expanded foam products, including machine sizes, mold parting lines and cavity layout, fill gun and knock out locations, and minimum draft angle requirements.
• Ability to develop new processes for new design concepts, and to improve production efficiency.
• Must have a thorough understanding of the various package handling tests run to verify and validate proposed designs. Tests include Clamp, Compression, Incline, Drop, and Vibration.
• Strong ability to analyze and solve problems with creative and innovative solutions.
• Effective communicator with the ability to build effective relationships with peers and co-workers.
• Ability to self-manage projects and assignments to meet customer expectations.
• Must be effective at using 3D CAD systems for design work and utilize appropriate CAD software to generate tool paths for CNC routers.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) to document and present design concepts, test results, and project status.
• Ability to travel as required to meet with customers, vendors and colleagues.
