Summary: 

To oversee all aspects of the daily operations of shellfish farming activities. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing farming activities to ensure maximum quality and productivity. To assist the General Manager in managing the daily operations of shellfish farming activities and manage the duties of the Shellfish Farm Assistant Manager. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinates farm operations to ensure maximum productivity; work on planting and expansion in regional areas. 
  • Work with the R&D segments in both Washington and Oregon on best practices and farming techniques.  
  • Assist with managing projects set by the director of farming. 
  • Forecast one, five, and ten year harvests and plantings. 
  • Expand manila clam holdings, on and off bottom pacific oysters, and oyster single seed opportunities. 
  • Train team members how to perform their job accurately and efficiently, be available to fill in on oyster dredge operations as needed. 
  • Assist with setting productivity goals, monitor progress and ensure compliance with established procedures. 
  • Work in tandem with the production division for proper harvesting and grow outs. 
  • Follow and enforce health and safety guidelines. 
  • Maintain inventory and productions with inventory control. 
  • Responsible for flupsy and seed bag nurseries. 
  • Work with local and state officials, and with local grower associations, regarding the importance of shellfish farming. 
  • Monitor production, assist with hiring, directing staff, and maintaining records. 
  • Assist with identifying causes of product losses and take corrective action. 
  • Travel to various farms along the west coast. 
  • Perform other duties, as assigned. 

What You Bring to Pacific Seafood: 

Required:

  • Minimum five years’ experience in the Shellfish or Aquaculture industry. 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in marine, aquaculture, or agricultural science.  
  • Prior experience managing a team. 

Salary Range:  $67,724.80 - $72,200.70 A nnually
