We're seeking a Retail Shopper & Customer Marketing Manager to supercharge our retail and shopper marketing efforts. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a strong design sensibility, and is eager to drive results through creative and strategic retail initiatives.

Position Summary

The Retail Shopper & Customer Marketing Manager will lead the development and execution of shopper marketing strategies to drive demand, sales, and brand visibility across Pet Specialty and other key retail partners.

We're looking for a self-starter with a background in small or scrappy CPG brands, who's excited to wear multiple hats, roll up their sleeves, and proactively uncover new opportunities to grow. The ideal candidate is also comfortable briefing designers directly, has strong creative judgment, and can collaborate seamlessly across teams to bring compelling campaigns to life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creative Leadership: Brief designers directly to create impactful marketing assets (e.g., point-of-sale displays, coupons, brochures, and in-store signage) that align with retailer-specific needs and brand standards.
  • Scrappy Demand Generation: Identify and execute new opportunities to generate retail demand, leveraging cost-effective, high-impact strategies typical of small, resourceful CPG brands.
  • Shopper Marketing Programs: Develop and implement innovative retail and shopper marketing programs to drive traffic and sales at PetSmart, Petco, and other key retailers.
  • Retailer Collaboration : Work closely with sales teams and retail partners to align strategies, build relationships, and maximize brand visibility.
  • Trade Show Management: Lead end-to-end planning for trade shows, including booth design, logistics, and marketing materials.
  • Data-Driven Strategy: Analyze shopper data, campaign performance, and market trends to identify insights and optimize programs.
  • Budget Management: Allocate and manage budgets with precision, ensuring maximum return on investment.
  • Trendspotting : Stay ahead of retail and shopper marketing trends, particularly in the pet, beauty, or food industries, to maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications:

Experience & Mindset:

  • 3-5 years in CPG retail/shopper marketing, preferably with experience at a small or fast-growing brand.
  • Proven scrappiness and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.

Creative Acumen:

  • Strong design sensibility with experience briefing designers and providing actionable feedback.
  • Hands-on experience managing the creation of marketing assets and using project management tools (e.g., Monday, Asana).

Demand Generation Expertise:

  • Track record of successfully driving demand to retail locations through creative campaigns and cost-effective initiatives.
  • Familiarity with vendors, tools, and suppliers for national and regional campaigns.

General Skills:

  • Excellent project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to juggle multiple projects while staying organized
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high level of autonomy.
