Job Description

This is an exciting new opportunity for a Technical Intern at Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC): SNC is seeking motivated and innovative individuals to join its internship program, where hands-on experience meets career preparation in the aerospace and defense industry. Unlike traditional internship programs, this opportunity involves meaningful work on real-world projects rather than administrative tasks. Interns receive direct mentorship from industry experts while actively contributing to projects aligned with their field of study. This summer internship typically lasts 10-12 weeks, starting in late May or early June, with an expected workload of approximately 40 hours per week. Based on performance and the successful completion of certain program criteria, interns may be considered for a full-time position upon graduation. Responsibilities: Engage with project teams, contribute ideas, and actively participate in assignments. Attend planning meetings and collaborate with team members on technical tasks. Gain insight into fundamental business processes and industry procedures. Develop technical skills through mentorship and hands-on experience. Take part in a structured internship program designed by the University Recruiting team, featuring cross-functional workshops and leadership interactions to understand SNC’s business and company culture. About the Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) Business Area: The MST business area specializes in delivering cost-effective, turn-key solutions for command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection, and security applications worldwide. With extensive experience supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and international and commercial clients, the MST team provides expertise in platform operations, engineering, and full lifecycle management across air, land, sea, space, and cyber domains. Must-Have Qualifications: Enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in a college or technical school, with at least six months remaining until graduation after the internship’s completion. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio. Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a dedicated work ethic. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Microsoft Access. Pursuit of a degree in engineering or a related field. About Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC): SNC is a leader in aerospace and national security, providing customer-focused technology solutions and best-in-class integrations. Recognized for its rapid innovation, SNC has been named one of the most innovative U.S. companies in space, a Tier One Superior Supplier for the U.S. Air Force, and one of America’s fastest-growing organizations. Compensation and Benefits: Estimated Starting Salary Range: $18 - $31 per hour (varies based on skills, experience, education, and location). Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans. 401(k) with 150% match up to 6%. Life insurance and three weeks of paid time off. Tuition reimbursement and additional benefits. Important Notice: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required as part of the clearance process. Non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF) oversees security clearance eligibility determinations, which consider factors such as allegiance to the U.S., foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations, and illegal drug use. Equal Opportunity Employer Statement: SNC is committed to fostering an inclusive work environment and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All employment decisions are based on merit, without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
