Job Type: Full-time

About the Company:

We are working with a pioneering biotech company focused on developing transformative therapies for neurological disorders. With a robust pipeline of novel therapies targeting neurodegeneration, neurodevelopmental disorders, and rare neurological diseases, we are committed to delivering breakthrough treatments to patients with high unmet medical needs.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a visionary Chief Medical Officer (CMO) - Neurology to lead our clinical and medical strategy. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the CMO will be responsible for driving the clinical development of our neurology pipeline, overseeing all aspects of medical strategy, clinical trial execution, regulatory engagement, and external collaborations.

The ideal candidate is an experienced physician-scientist or industry leader with deep expertise in neurology drug development, particularly in early-stage clinical programs. This role requires strong strategic thinking, scientific acumen, leadership capabilities, and the ability to navigate the complexities of clinical development in a fast-paced biotech environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Clinical Development Oversight

  • Define and execute the overall clinical development strategy for the company's neurology portfolio, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Oversee the design and execution of early-phase clinical trials (Phase 1/2) and guide programs through proof-of-concept (PoC) and later-stage development.
  • Provide expert medical guidance on study design, clinical endpoints, biomarker strategies, and regulatory interactions.
  • Lead internal Go/No-Go decision-making based on clinical data, ensuring rapid and informed development decisions.
Regulatory & External Engagement

  • Serve as the primary medical liaison with global regulatory authorities (e.g., FDA, EMA), leading IND/CTA submissions, regulatory strategy, and advisory meetings.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), patient advocacy groups, and clinical investigators to support trial recruitment and data dissemination.
  • Represent the company in scientific, regulatory, and investor meetings, as well as at key medical and industry conferences.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Team Building

  • Lead and mentor the Clinical Development and Medical Affairs teams, fostering a high-performance, innovation-driven culture.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, Translational Medicine, Commercial, Business Development, and Regulatory teams to ensure seamless progression from preclinical to clinical development.
  • Drive external partnerships with academia, CROs, and biopharma partners to enhance clinical trial execution and scientific innovation.
Medical Governance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with ethical, regulatory, and safety standards across all clinical programs.
  • Oversee pharmacovigilance activities, patient safety monitoring, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide clinical and medical input for business development, including due diligence on potential partnerships or acquisitions.
Qualifications & Experience:

  • MD with PhD or with board certification in Neurology or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in clinical development, with a strong track record in neurology drug development, particularly in early-phase (FIH, Phase 1/2) programs.
  • Expertise in neurodegeneration, neurodevelopmental disorders, or rare neurological diseases is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience leading clinical development programs, including IND submissions, regulatory interactions, and clinical trial execution.
  • Strong knowledge of translational medicine, biomarkers, and precision neurology approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a biotech or pharma environment, with experience in small, high-growth organizations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
