We are seeking a
versatile and skilled Equipment Operator to join our team. This role requires an experienced operator who can work both in the seat and on the ground, with a deep understanding of the complexities of digging around existing homes and trailers, or in tight spaces. As a key part of our team, the ideal candidate must be comfortable with a variety of machines, including excavators, loaders, and compact track loaders (CTL), while also contributing to hands-on work and maintaining safety standards in dynamic work environments.
To perform this job successfully, a candidate must be highly proficient in the following essential skills and responsibilities: Key Responsibilities - Operate a variety of heavy machinery, including excavators, loaders, and compact loaders to safely and efficiently dig around infrastructure.
- Perform precise digging and excavation in sensitive areas, ensuring minimal disruption to existing utility systems.
- Work alongside pipe crews installing and repairing water, sewer, and drainage systems.
- Perform daily maintenance checks on equipment to ensure proper function and safety.
- Ensure all excavation and construction work is conducted safely, adhering to proper excavation protocols, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Collaborate with supervisors, field engineers, and other crew members to ensure the efficient and accurate completion of all tasks.
- Work in open excavations or trench boxes installing pipe and drainage structures and assist in earthwork.
- Maintain a high level of attention to detail, monitoring utility lines and other infrastructure while operating equipment.
- Be flexible in job duties and willing to transition between equipment operation and other field tasks, including backfilling, pipe laying, or other manual labor.
- Follow safety protocols, including the use of PPE, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
Other Requirements - 2 years minimum experience in Underground Construction, specifically utility installation and earthwork.
- Ability to work 10-hour days, 5 days per week , and occasional Saturdays.
- Willingness to travel and remain “out of town” for 2-3 weeks at a time (accommodations, per diems, airfare, and ground transportation provided as necessary).
- Comfortable working in physically demanding environments, including trenches, confined spaces, and outdoor conditions (hot weather, rain, etc.).
- Ability to stand, kneel, walk, lift, bend, stoop, push, and pull.
- Capable of working around wet, dusty, or dirty conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Job Type: Full-time Pay: Starting at $28 per hour, based on experience.
