Job Description

Job Summary:

The HR Specialist will be responsible for all aspects of the human resources function for approximately 800 employees across the U.S. Successful candidates will play a key role in supporting various HR programs and initiatives and partnering closely with employees across the organization and the HR team. This role will report to the Director of HR & Payroll and may focus on various areas, including onboarding, leave of absence management, performance management, benefits administration, and compliance.

This role will be based in Baton Rouge, LA and is a Hybrid position. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Administer and manage FMLA, CFRA, ADA, and other leave processes.
  • Act as the main contact for leave inquiries, ensuring compliance and accurate documentation.
  • Oversee new hire onboarding and employee offboarding, including orientations and exit procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address employee relations issues, conflicts, and performance management matters in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Maintain confidential employee records and ensure adherence to HR policies and regulations.
  • Manage employee offboarding procedures, including exit interviews, return of company property, and final paperwork to ensure compliance and smooth transitions.
  • Stay informed about HR trends and best practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Minimum 3 years experience in an HR related role, strong preference for work as a Generalist or Specialist.
  • Ability to work through a problem with limited information and find solutions to take the situation to the next step.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, with at least an intermediate level of Excel. 
  • Proactive mindset to implement and come up with solutions.
  • Knowledge of Paylocity is a plus.
