Job Description

The Production Assistant for Special Events will help produce live breaking news special reports. The role offers an opportunity to be a part of the biggest moments in breaking news. It also offers unique involvement in both live producing and tape producing.

 

Responsibilities:

• Assist with multiple aspects of production including: compiling research for production team and talent organizing production logistics creating graphics and lower thirds during breaking news and special coverage
• Research and compile visual elements for air
• Help monitor social media and web for any breaking news or longterm news stories
• Provide general administrative support for Specials team including meeting planning travel planning and submitting expense reports
• Schedule/arrange meetings and conference calls with internal and external parties at a fast and constantly changing pace
• Handle confidential information with discretion
• Work closely with specials team to research select and locate required footage for broadcast

Qualifications :

• At least 1 year of news production experience or internshiprelated experience at the network or cablenews level
• Bachelors Degree in Communications Journalism English History or a related field of study
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours under tight deadline pressure including breaking news; ability to work overtime as needed including nights and weekends as events warrant
• Willing to work onsite in New York NY

• Experience with NewsConnect Avid Media Central Avid Interplay VizRT graphics iNews Slack and/or similar editing and editorial technological systems
• Ability to recognize and implement reprioritization of tasks
• Longterm career aspirations to be in the production/editorial space

• Required OnSite : This position is required to be performed fulltime from an NBCUniversaldesignated worksite
